I gotta tell ya, it sounds pretty good to hear Thomas singingOver some fiddle, and steel guitar on his "Country Again (Side A)" albumAnd you know, he says it's more about a state of mindThan it is a lifestyle necessarily, but whatever it is I love the sound of this album so farAnd the next song I'd love for you to tell us about Thomas Is "Where We Grew Up"Which definitely has a bit of nostalgic feel to it"Where We Grew Up" was written with two of my really good friendsLuke Laird and Josh MillerAnd uh, it was really one of the first co-writes that I'd had in personIn a very long time, most of my writes over quarantine were over ZoomAnd-and so Luke and Josh came over to the houseAnd I remember Josh started playing this thingAnd he was like, "Man, I wrote this verse and chorusThat I don't know if y'all are gonna like or not"And he started singing the first verse and the chorusAnd me and Luke were like "Dang"Like those are those awesome, easy daysWhere you go in and somebody's already got the bones of something completeAnd we just, me and Luke, just kinda help craft the second verse and the bridgeAnd it just reminded me so much of the town that I grew up inAnd how proud you are looking back at the place you grew upBecause when you leave you're kinda like "I never wanna go back thereI never wanna- I'm gonna leave that place in the past"And then when you start to get a little bit older, you look back at it and you go"Dang, that place shaped me" that-that place made me, you know the person that I am todayThe things I believe in and stand for, the values that I haveAnd you know, I haven't done anything musically like that since probably my first recordIt kinda reminded me of "It Goes Like This" a little bitUm, in just the production element of itSo um, that was a really fun day, just to kinda get in person with writers againAnd to come out with something that you actually record on your recordYou know, I'll never forget that dayWell, this is it, "Where We Grew Up"New music from Thomas Rhett on Big Machine Radio
