What did I tell ya? So goodThat is "Want It Again" from Thomas RhettOff his "Country Again (Side A)" album, which we're listening to nowAnd talking to Thomas about writing all these songsThe next one is "Growing Up"And I feel like you've had a couple of songs sort of in this same veinOn previous albums, but I love 'emTell us about "Growing Up""Growing Up" was actually written on the same trip as "Want It Again"I think we actually wrote those songs back to back, which was crazyBut my buddy, Matt Dragstrem, had this kinda old school country track loopingAnd we just started throwing out titlesI mean, that's-that's what we do in these sessionsIs people just sit on their phones and be like"I got this title called whatever and I got this other title"And I'd had this title called "Growing Up" in my phone for about a year'Cause I feel like I did a lot of growing up in 2019And especially in 2020, I feel like I grew up a tonAnd so kinda one of those, nostalgic looking back of going, I used to be this wayAnd then it's like every couple yearsThere were certain things in my life that would changeSo like the hook on the first chorus is like"Just a little less Jack in my cup, man, I guess I'm growing up"Second one is "Just a little less jack up my truck, man, I guess I'm growing up"And it seems like every couple years I look back at my life, and I'm like"Man, I used to kinda do this and think this was me being a mature adult"And then you look back at yourself two years ago and where you're at todayAnd you're kinda like, "Dang, I've done a lot of growing"And uh, this is one of my favorite tracks on the recordI love the way that we produced itAnd I just love the way that it all came together so fluidIt kinda reminds of "Sixteen" a little bitWhich is one of my favorite tracks on my two records agoBut yeah, I love that song
