LETRA SINCRONIZADA LRCLIB
Me and Tyler Herbert and RussellWent and visited a man's prison in Nashville last yearWith a friend of ours named AlWho does a prison ministry here in NashvilleAnd I honestly did not know that that was a thingAnd I really didn't want to goBecause I was kind of freaked out, to be honest with youAnd Tyler was like really adamant about goingSo I went with him and, and we brought our guitarsAnd walked into this just like super heavy environmentYou know, and I think our job that day was just to spread a little bit of joyAnd bring a little bit of light into a place that is ultimately pretty darkAnd we walked in and it was like real quickAfter we got done playing the songsWe started to like ask ourselves, do we shake their hands?Do we mingle? And if you do mingleLike, what do you say? You know what I mean?Like, a lot of those folks have been in there for 30 plus yearsAnd I think in your brain, you goThey must be so out of touch with reality, like what's happeningAnd all of a sudden, we're sitting there talking about Turkey season coming upAnd we're talking about bass that we callAnd we, we talking about college football and old country musicAnd next thing you know, it just it kind of felt like we were just talking to peopleThat we had known for a long time, andI think ultimately what I learned that day is thatWe've all made decisions in our lives that we wish we could take backAnd to not judge a book by its coverAnd I think we get into that bridge by sayingLike, you know, we can't judge their soulI'm not trying to get into like anything that I believe about anythingAll I know is that I left being likeI thought those people were going to be monstersAnd they turned out to be very remorsefulSadder than anyone I've ever met about something they had done in their lifeAnd it made me look at my life, and I goGod, like, things I've done in my lifeAre there people that I need to say sorry to?Are there people that I need to forgive? And so I didn't really know how to register all of that except for to write itAnd mm, I really didn't even know that I wanted it to be on the record at allAnd I started playing it for friends and for familyAnd I think a lot of them were just likeI think there's some people in the world that should hear that
