"Bass Pro Hat" was writtenTwo years ago when I was in CanadaAnd it was the same weekend that we wrote"Be A Light" and "Want It Again"Those kind of weekends hardly ever happenWhere you go out with one writing crew andYou end up writing five or six songsAnd three of them end up making a projectSo obviously, "Want It Again" and "Be A Light"Were recorded last yearAnd "Bass Pro Hat"Somebody had that title in their phoneAnd I just started playing this lick in open G tuningAnd I love when I can't figure out anything else to sayI love tuning my guitar there'Cause that's how Keith Richards plays his guitar in The StonesAnd I just started singing melodiesAnd I think it was Josh Thompson was like"My baby's got her Bass Pro Hat on"And then we just thought like"That's an interesting way to look at a title""Bass Pro Hat", what does that mean? And so we literally started writing a song aboutYou know, me and Lauren just loving, living simple lifeAnd the melody is so fun, the track is so funIt sounded like a big ol' hit to us after we wrote itAnd turned out so cool
