We were originally writing for this artist named Teddy SwimsIf you're not familiar with Teddy SwimsYou should be, 'cause he's incredibleI featured on his record last year on a song called "Broke"I remember having this title on my phoneCalled "Maybe Some Angels Don't Have Wings"Meaning, like, there's a lot of people in your life that literallyFeel like angels on Earth because of how muchGrace they have and how much patience they haveAnd how they kinda help you through a hard timeAnd I'd never really written a song fromThat perspective about me and LaurenBut there's definitely been times in our marriage whereI've been like, "How do you put up with me?" You know?Like, "How do you deal with my crap on a daily basis?"So this song kinda started for TeddyAnd then Teddy was like, "Man, I feel like this feels like you"And so I put my vocal on it and I about cried singing the vocalI remember playing it for Lauren and she loved itAnd it's a little bit more dark than I usually go in my songwritingAnd especially putting songs like that on my recordBut I just felt like it was really needed for this projectAnd, man, uh, just such a beautiful trackAnd, and I think that, um, there's a lot of people out thereThat can relate to this song with their significant other
