It's a big job just gettin' by with nine kids and a wifeBut I've been a workin' man dang near all my lifeAnd I'll keep on workin'Long as my two hands are fit to useI'll drink my beer in a tavernSing a little bit of these workin' man bluesI keep my nose on the grindstone, work hard everydayI might get a little tired on the weekend, after I draw my payI'll go back workin', come Monday morningI'm right back with the crewAnd I drink a little beer that eveningSing a little bit of these workin' man bluesSometimes I think about leaving, do a little bumming aroundI want to throw my bills out the windowCatch a train to another townI'll go back workin', gotta buy my kids a brand new pair of shoesI drink a little beer in a tavernCry a little bit of these workin' man bluesWell, hey hey the workin' man, the workin' man like meI ain't never been on welfare that's one place I won't beI'll be workin', long as my two hands are fit to useI'll drink my beer
