Whether you like to stream your music, download it, or you stillLike to buy hard copy CDs, do whatever you prefer, but get LadyA's Ocean. It's out now, it's a fantastic album, and we're playingEvery song off of it. That way, you get kind of a taste and you knowWhat you're in for. And I promise you, you're still gonna wannaGet the album even after you hear it 'cause you're gonna wanna playIt again and again. And the next song, I found it kind of interestingBecause when I heard the title, my mind instantly went to cowboyBoots. And Charles, you're not exactly the cowboy boot type. I meanYou're wearing some suede boots right now, but they're a littleBit more, uh, fancy than cowboy boots. But I wanted to know, uhYou wrote this with Ross Copperman, so tell me about writing "Boots.""Boots" was, uh, a beach write. I tried to get Dave over thereI think you were leavin' that day. (Yeah) And, so Ross Copperman'sA good friend of ours, and a great producer and songwriter in townAnd we all go down to the same place in Florida, kind of get awayFrom Nashville and vacation and stuff. And, uh, I don't know, it'sI always feel kind of inspired when I'm down at the beach and IAlways wanna write. And so, uh, I knew Ross was in town. I calledHim up and I said, "Hey, man, you know, if you get couple hoursLet's just sit down, see if something comes out. You know, we stillGot a few slots on the record that we're tryin' to fill." And so IWent over there and I think it just started with that opening littleGuitar riff and those first verse lines. And, you know, I like thatIt's got this kind of rockin' tempo feel, but truly what it is isIt's kind of a masculine love song basically sayin', "You clean meUp, you know, you shine me up, and these boots are never walkin'Out on you," you know? We try to kind of flip "these boots were madeFor walkin'" that "these boots are never walkin' out on you." AndUh, it goes along with that same theme of be patient with my loveCrazy love. It's a nod to my wife and, uh, even though songs are aNod to Dave and Hillary, y'all are my work- (Spouses) spouses. AndYou know, they've never given up on me and my wife's never given upOn me. And it's part of the journey. I mean, I've still got so farTo go and struggle with all kinds of different things on a dailyBasis, but it's all part of the journey and, uh, ain't goin' nowhereWell, it's kinda like "You Couldn't Get Rid of Me if You Tried" Only you wrote it a lot better and made it sound sweeterIn this song "Boots." And it was co-written by CharlesKelley for Lady A's new album Ocean, which is available now
